Anyone who’s taken a stab at redecorating knows that it has the potential to bleed your wallet dry. But going into redecorating debt is totally and completely avoidable. You just need to follow a few simple guidelines:
Get Creative: Upon closer inspection you may realize that the room you want to renovate is not in need of a total teardown. Perhaps some of the furniture that you were dead set on replacing just needs a little TLC. Old couches and chairs that are past their prime can be restuffed and reupholstered at a fraction of the cost of new furniture.
Find a Deal: Deals and discounts on home décor and furnishings are lurking everywhere. You just have to know where to find them. You’ve no doubt seen the ample offering from Home Decorators, which carries furniture, lighting, and décor for every room in the house (plus the patio!). In order to help you get a jump start on your renovations and remodeling, the company is currently offering $10-off orders of $100 or more. But you’ve got to get a move on. The deal only lasts until May 19.
Stick to the Budget: Some people think that “budget” is a bad word, but the truth is that sticking to a budget can help you sleep better at night. Once you figure out what you can afford to spend on your makeover project, stick to your guns. You’ll be glad you did.
